Chewsing an Antler

Elk Antlers

The All-Rounder – Durable, Nutritious, and Flavorful

Elk antlers are known for their dense, solid structure and slightly softer outer core, making them a perfect choice for medium to heavy chewers. The larger size of elk antlers provides a long-lasting challenge, and they contain a rich marrow center that dogs love to gnaw on.

Best For: Medium to large breeds and dogs who enjoy a good mix of toughness and taste.

Chewing Experience: Balanced hardness, ideal for strong chewers but softer than deer antlers, making them a bit gentler on teeth.

Key Benefit: Rich in flavor and slightly softer, allowing for longer chew times without the risk of splintering.

Moose Antlers

The Marrow-Lover’s Dream – Softer and Rich in Nutrients

Moose antlers are unique due to their flatter shape and softer interior. They often feature a large amount of marrow, making them a favorite for dogs who enjoy the soft, flavorful center. Moose antlers are a good choice for dogs who may find elk or deer antlers too hard.

Best For: Senior dogs, puppies, or dogs with sensitive teeth who still enjoy a satisfying chew.

Chewing Experience: Softest of the three, offering a more accessible chew with an abundance of nutritious marrow.

Key Benefit: Ideal for dogs who want to get to the marrow quickly. Less wear and tear on teeth while still providing great mental stimulation.

Deer Antlers

The Power Chewer’s Delight – Tough and Long-Lasting

Deer antlers are typically smaller in diameter but have a much harder exterior. They’re perfect for dogs who crave an intense chewing experience. Due to their hardness, these antlers are best suited for determined chewers who need something extremely durable.

Best For: Aggressive chewers and dogs with strong jaws who need a serious challenge.

Chewing Experience: Harder than elk or moose antlers, offering a more engaging chew for persistent chewers.

Key Benefit: Provides maximum durability and chewing satisfaction, making it ideal for power chewers.

How We Gather Our Antlers

Scouting

Our skilled teams of scouts (both people and dogs) find the best spots where antlers will likely be shed by animals.

Foraging

After the shed season, we collect wild-shed antlers from the locations we have previously scouted. We do not harm, chase, or bother any animals during this process.

Grading

Once antlers are collected, we then grade them based on their appearance, age, and integrity. We only use the highest quality, Grade-A antlers for dogs.

Conservation

We volunteer our time to conservation efforts in the Rocky Mountain region as stewards of the land.

FAQs

Are your antlers safe for all dog sizes?

Yes! Our antlers come in a variety of sizes and hardness levels to suit every dog’s needs—from puppies to power chewers.

How are the antlers collected?

We partner with local collectors who ethically gather naturally shed antlers in the Rocky Mountains. No animals are harmed, and the process supports local wildlife conservation.

How long do the antlers last?

With proper size selection, an antler chew can last anywhere from several weeks to a few months, depending on your dog’s chewing habits.

What’s the difference between whole and split antlers?

Whole antlers are ideal for dogs who love a good challenge. Split antlers expose the inner marrow, making it easier for dogs with sensitive teeth or those new to antlers.
